Gadgets are good

Apple iPod Photo 20GB

I love my iPod. It travels with me wherever I go. Gone are the days of hauling my case of CDs around. Gone are the days of constantly updating my 256MB MP3 player with new songs to work out to. Even though my 20GB iPod only holds about 1/3 of my music, it is a vast improvement over my old 256MB MP3 player. I can now shuffle through a playlist of 1000s of hard rock/metal songs while I workout which means I never have to hear the same song twice.... ever... The iPod also has some great gadgets of it's own. The iTrip lets me listen through my car stereo, and the iTalk lets me record guitar riffs or reminder memos. Anyone that considers themselves a music lover and doesn't have an iPod (or comparable MP3 player) is a DAMN LIAR.

Play Station Portable

I don't know if I would've paid full price for one of these... Sarah gave it to me for my birthday this year - she bought it cheap from a friend's little brother that was in dire need of some cash. This thing is pretty friggin cool. You can watch movies, listen to music, and play games. The display is jaw dropping, especially when watching movies, and the few games that we have look great as well. The games are not cheap ($39), but compared to regular PS2 games, they aren't that expensive either (although Best Buy never has any games in stock... bastards). Sarah and I have been addicted to a puzzle game called Mercury... you move a blob of mercury around a board. It may sound lame, but it rules. My biggest complaint is the memory card. Sony created a proprietary "PSP memory stick" instead of just using SD or some other already established technology. It would have been great to stick my SD memory card from my digital camera into my PSP to view pictures, but noooooo - Damn Sony hippies.

I've probably taken 10,000 pictures with this camera since my parents gave it to me for my birthday back in 2003. Aside from not being able to manually adjust the shutter speed, this is a bad-ass little camera. I have not seen another small-sized digital that takes better pictures. Almost every picture in the "photos" section of my website was taken with this camera - check them out (especially the Art Photos section) and judge for yourself.

Dish Network DVR 921
DVR
Simply put, the greatest invention in the history of the world. Period. Better than the wheel, better than sliced bread, and yes, even better than the guillotine. For those of you that don't know, DVR is Dish Network's version of TiVo. The DVR921 has a 120GB hard drive, and dual inputs that allow us to record two shows at once. I don't know what I did before DVR... I guess I was a slave to TV schedules while trapped in a prison of watching commercials. Free at last! As Dooce once said, TiVo can single handedly save a marriage. If you don't have one, GET ONE NOW. It will change your life for the better!

Ditto on the iPod. I have a mini and it wakes me up in the morning via the Alarm function. Stranded on a desert island? Give me my wife, a boat and an iPod and I'm good to go.
